Friendly Donut House was a personal project chosen to develop my branding and identity skills. Friendly Donut House is a small donut shop located on the outskirts of Las Vegas in the city of Henderson. Placed in a strip mall sandwiched between a cobbler and a barber, it and the shops around it have existed there for decades. Awarded for Best of Las Vegas, Best Donuts, I thought it needed more than just a generic sign and empty walls. The reimagining of this shop was rooted in the authentic donuts, the Chinese-American family that has run it for decades, and the desire to be more than just a donut shop, but always staying just a donut shop. Bringing together the old and new through color palette, keeping the classic to-go cardboard box was important, and the melding of cultures in the other colors. Along with the happy logo mark and verbiage pushes the donut shop into the decades to come while always staying the simple old spot for donuts.
